Tunica—The lady's basic garment, a full-length tunic with sewn shoulders and a slit neck. Can be worn as an underdress in white, or as a basic dress in a variety of colors .

Price: Starting at $39 for cotton. For added authenticity we recommend a linen-rayon blend that looks and moves like pure linen, starting at $55. Pure linen sometimes available.

Stola—The Roman matron’s dress. Clothing historians disagree about what made the stola different from other dresses. Ours is a classic wide rectangular style that can be single- or double-belted. Depending on your preference, it can be closed along the top seam, except for the slit neck, or caught at intervals with decorative pins or buttons.

Starting at $39 for cotton. For added authenticity we recommend a linen-rayon blend that looks and moves like pure linen, starting at $55.  Pure linen sometimes available.

Peplos Style Dress—An alternative style of lady's dress, derived from a Greek style. A portion of the fabric is folded down from the top, front and back. The shoulders are caught at intervals with decorative pins or buttons. Generally worn with a single belt.

Starting at $50 for cotton. For added authenticity we recommend a linen-rayon blend that looks and moves like pure linen, starting at $70. Pure linen sometimes available.

Palla—A special full-body wrap and head covering, made of wool, which Roman matrons paired with the stola on formal occasions. Sixty inches wide and at least nine feet long.  Price depends on fabric availability, generally $50 and up.
